Another Pastoral Epistle
March 28, 2018
Hi church family,
Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! This greeting also known as the Paschal Greeting is an Easter custom based on Luke 24:34, “The Lord has risen indeed!” It is unknown as to when that became a standard greeting in the church. In some cultures, it is also customary to exchange a triple kiss of peace on the alternating cheeks after the greeting.
But it is more than an empty tradition. The words “He is risen!” remind us of the life-changing news we celebrate at Easter, that Jesus’ death was not in vain, and that He has the power to overcome death. “He is risen indeed” anchors us in the truth of the resurrection of Christ that gives us hope for salvation and for our own resurrection and eternal life.
Have you been working through the Holy Week Devotionals? Are you planning on coming this Friday to our Good Friday Service at 6:30? Have you given anyone a “You’re Invited” card? Those invite cards are available at the visitor’s counter at back of sanctuary for you to invite others to one of our two services. You will also find invite cards for EBC Kids back there as well.
I was encouraged to meet several newcomers this past Sunday. In case you are wondering, there were 60 people at the 8:30 service and around 180, including children, at 10:30 worship. The real work is not filling chairs but moving people along in the discipling process of engaging, to establishing, to equipping, to evangelizing. Being true to our mission of becoming a disciple-making church remains at the center of all that we do. Are you earnestly praying for conversions and transformation of EBC family and our community?
Don’t forget that Prayer Builders is this Sunday from 10:05-10:25 in the room behind the stage. It is an opportunity to pray for our church family and our outreach into the community. Speaking of outreach, On-Goal Soccer Camp will soon be kicking off (pun intended). You might have missed the pep rally, but you don’t have to miss the excitement of seeing 75-100 kids at Leavitt Park June 26th-30th. We need your help to pull off the many facets of this outreach ministry!
Mark you calendar for a night of worship as we partner with Lakes Region Vineyard Church. It is Sunday night, April 15 at 6:00 PM.
Our praise is to be forever on our lips because of our Risen and reigning Lord Jesus. In First Peter chapter one, Peter boldly proclaimed, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…”
Christ is Risen! He is Risen indeed!

Is it possible that good things can come out of our broken dreams? Worship leader Laura Story’s life would never be the same after her husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She helps us understand that we aren’t the only ones whose lives have taken unexpected turns. She examines the brokenness of some of the heroes of our faith and despite their flawed stories, God was able to use them in extraordinary ways! Sign up in the back of the sanctuary or by calling the church office.
Community Worship Night
EBC and Lakes Region Vineyard Church are co-sponsoring a community worship night at EBC on Sunday, April 15 from 6-8PM. EBC’s worship team will kick off the night with a set of songs, we will break for a time of prayer, then LRVC worship team will wrap up the night with another set of worship songs. Please join us!
If you have been looking for a way to serve, then this is a perfect opportunity to do so. If you are already attending a Sunday morning service, it only takes a few minutes of your time to serve as an usher. Let Vinny Caruso know if you are interested.
