Spring is coming! Actually, spring is here. On my calendar it is says, “March 20, first day of spring.” The only sign of spring is that the Red Sox begin their regular season next Thursday. But of course, that opening game isn’t in Boston. It is out west.
The “What’s Next Banquet” is coming! I hope you are starting to feel the importance of this time together and are getting excited about this celebration as a church for what God is doing and anticipating what is to come for us at EBC. This night is about inspiration, information, and an invitation to go home and pray how you’ll participate in this journey.
Join us a week prior to that for a time of prayer on Friday night, March 29, from 7:00-8:00 in the worship center. Let’s lock arms and pray expectantly for God to move in our church and community.
Another sign that spring is here is that we start promoting summer events. Again, a big event on the church’s calendar is our annual On Goal Soccer camp. This week-long day camp held at Leavitt park has been an effective way to connect with families both inside and outside of our church family. Many hands make this a success. The church does provide funds for the running of this camp, but additional money is needed for scholarships. There are families who can’t afford sending their kids to camp, so if you would like to help towards sponsoring kids for this week, then put that money in the offering plate by marking it “On Goal scholarship”. Soon you will be able to give to this online.
Coming this summer, the church will be hosting a neighborhood block party for our church neighbors. There will be ways you can help as we get closer, but for now, it can be a matter of prayer and anticipation for what’s next for us in reaching this area for Christ.
As we continue to seek what is next for us as a church, it requires some evaluation and reflection on our present ministries. Leaders of the various ministries are asking that question as it pertains to moving forward. For instance, our adult discipleship ministry is looking for fresh ways to impact the men and women of our church. We are looking to better establish and equip believers by offering a Bible Study on Sunday mornings at 9:00. These 4-8 week studies will involve a variety of teachers and topics and the hope is to grow this ministry so that more than one study can be offered simultaneously to appeal to various life stages and needs.
A four-week discovery class will begin in April. This is an opportunity for anyone wanting to learn more about EBC, but also for those considering membership.
As you can see, there is a lot coming up. Stay informed so that you don’t miss out on what’s happening at EBC. Our God is building up His people at EBC so that we move out to make a difference in the world. As I have said, “we gather to go.” Look forward to gathering with you this Sunday!
