Another Pastoral Epistle 3/6/19

This is a reading from Tuesday’s 30 Day Prayer Challenge. Even if you have already read it, I encourage you to read it again and let it direct your prayers. Prayer is one of the more important things we are going to do around the Capital Campaign.

God and Prayer; a priority.
“You shall have no other gods before Me. Deuteronomy 5:7
“Here O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Deuteronomy 6:4-5

Each of us can get wrapped up in the busyness of life, becoming distracted and misplacing priorities. We typically go to prayer as a last resort, especially in times of crisis, not seeking God first. We try to do things on our own, relying on our own wisdom, ideas and strength. However, when we prioritize prayer, we are prioritizing God Himself. This means placing God above anything and everything we do. Before we “do” anything, seeking God first in prayer and in reading His Word is where we will find God. Prayer is all about relationship. A relationship with our Heavenly Father. It is in this relationship where we find God’s power, strength and comfort.

Pray daily for help in prioritizing and devoting yourself to prayer and in reading the Bible. Seek forgiveness in relying upon your own wisdom rather than seeking Him first. Invite Him to talk with you as you wish to talk with Him.

Pray that you would not be distracted from praying daily for God’s work and will for both you and your church family.

Pray that you will discern more clearly God’s calling in your life each day and how to reorder our priorities to fulfill that calling.

Our main event is the What’s Next Banquet. Join us Friday, April 5th, at Pheasant Ridge Country Club at 6pm. RSVP by 3/20 either signing up at the back of the Sanctuary this Sunday or online below.
