Why is it that when you buy a certain car you begin noticing how many of that same car are on the road?? I remember after buying a Toyota Camry back in 2007 how often I noticed Toyota Camrys everywhere.? And even more so silver Camrys like mine.? Is it because more people bought that same model around the time I did or is it because I started noticing it?? While it may be in part because of the car?s growing popularity, more likely it was because I had become more aware of them.
Have you become more aware of the words to Joshua, ?Be strong and courageous?since it became our theme for 2018?? I have heard from some of you over the last few months that since landing on the theme of be strong and courageous it seems to be popping up everywhere.? How have those words been at work in your life??Have you had any opportunities to speak those words into other?s lives?? How has God used the bracelet with the words, ?Be strong and courageous? in conversations with others?? I would love to hear how God has used those words in your life and know it would encourage our community at EBC.
On Sunday, June 3 there will be a potluck from noon to 2:00.? If you would like to submit a story or situation in which God has used those words in your life over the last several months, you can submit them to the office (anonymously if you would prefer) and I will share it with the church family during the potluck.? You may also place your testimonial in the box at the Ministry Counter on Sunday morning.
Praise God for the growing registrations for On-Goal Soccer Camp?and that the dinners for the coaches have been filled.? We are still in need of lunches and helpers during the week as well as housing for the coaches.? Also, if you would like to help those kids who can?t afford to go to camp, place monies in the offering plate designated ?On Goal Soccer Camp.?? Pray that many families in our community are impacted by this outreach ministry.
Work day?is this Saturday from 8:00-noon.? If you can come for the full four hours or part of the time, there are plenty of projects needing our attention on the church grounds and buildings. Taking care of our property is one of those household responsibilities we have as a church family.? I hope to see you there.
Have you noticed the number of people God is adding to our church family?? I am encouraged and yet at times find myself unable to remember everyone?s names.? You may feel the same way.? Don?t be afraid to ask for people?s names a second, third, or fourth time.? It shows a real interest in getting to know them and welcome them to our church.?Again, I want to nudge you to capitalize on the fellowship time?in between services.? There is such a positive buzz when God?s people are together.
I am reminded of the charge in Hebrews to ?consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.?? We really can put courage into each other when we meet.?Courage to act in love, obedience, and for the long haul.
Be strong & courageous to the end, Pastor Brian
