It has been more than seven years since I worshiped with you for the first time. I still remember my initial impression, “Wow, they really like to sing!”, I thought to myself. That impression left an indelible mark on my heart and I consider myself privileged to sing along with you each week.
I have been giving a fair amount of developmental thought to our worship ministry over the past year, considering both our values as well as our practices. I have developed a brief two-part video series to help communicate the vision I believe God has placed in the heart of our body for our ministry in worship.
This week I am sharing with you, Part One: Our Ministry Identity. In this video I share the mission and values that unite us in worship here at EBC. Now, if you’re anything like me, words like vision, mission, and values may make you cringe a little. That’s because those phrases are often presented as pie in the sky ideas that sound great, but are not rooted in reality, or just fail to represent the intrinsic qualities of the group they are meant to define. However, I do not believe that to be the case in this instance. For sure, there is something of my DNA in this video, but as part of the family, I believe this is shared DNA and there is something of you in me.
