The Weekly Epistle 12/15/21

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been 20 years since I sat in my very first youth pastoral class at Baptist Bible College (now Clarks Summit University). I don’t remember much from that class, but I remember my teacher’s emphasis on raising up the next generation. And not just the next generation but the leaders of the next generation. With that said, I am excited to announce that Dylan Treamer will lead the relaunch of Momentum Student Ministries is in winter 2022!

Much like I have been discipling others to lead worship, I will be discipling Dylan to lead Momentum. To be clear, discipleship is not delegation. Delegation is nothing more than transferring power and authority from one person to another. On the other hand, discipleship is the fostering of another’s character and competency for the building up of the Church. Jesus walked alongside the disciples for three years, engaging, establishing, and equipping them for their calling. In other words, he made an active investment in their lives. Likewise, I will actively be investing myself in Dylan. Dylan was one of my key students in Momentum, so I am particularly excited to lead him through his next stage of life and ministry.

Stages of Discipleship…

Dylan and I will follow the following stages of Discipleship…

Stage One: I (Pastor Dan) do, you (team) watch
Stage Two: I do, you help
Stage Three: You do, I help
Stage Four: You do, I cheer

How You Can Be Praying…

We’re not quite ready to announce all our plans yet as we’re still working out the details. However, in the meantime, you can be praying for the following…

  • Pray for the teens within EBC’s sphere of influence. Pray for eagerness to know Jesus more and excitement to engage with other teens at Momentum.
  • Pray for Dylan as he leans into God’s calling for this next season of life and ministry.
  • Pray for me as I guide Dylan and this process.
  • Pray for the formation of a solid team to surround and support Dylan and support the ministry of Momentum.

Stay Tuned…

We’ll have more information for you in the coming days and weeks, so stay tuned.

Blessings,

Pastor Dan
