The Weekly Epistle 5/21/24

To our Living Hope Family,
Love one another with brotherly affection.
Outdo one another in showing honor.
Romans 12:10 (ESV)

On April 3rd, our world was completely turned upside down!!
After not answering his phone, I went home to check on Dave.
By the time I arrived, Dave had already gone home to be with our Lord and Savior.
We are left here to navigate the rest of our journey without him.               How could it be?

Within an hour Pastor Dan and Susan were in our home, arms wrapped around us sharing in our grief. Not long after, Pastor Brian called long distance, he and Donna shared in our shock and disbelief, wishing they were here.

Within a few hours meals delivered to our home, plans in place to cover my role in the church office and a flood of prayers that covered our family completely. I mean, how can someone have a broken heart, yet at the very same time feel it being filled with love? Filled with the love from our family of Living Hope.

This outpouring of love & support was evident. The Care & Visitation team put together a meal train. You brought dinners, desserts & paper goods. You were texting, calling, or stopping by, just to be sure we were OK. People stood in line for hours to pay their last respects. Some shared sweet memories, yet others simply had no words, just hugs and tears. You literally held us up.

Pastor Brian and Pastor Dan, you knew my heart’s desire for the service was to honor Dave, but above all to glorify the LORD.  Thank you for sharing your heart with all of us as you shared words of comfort and Dave’s certainty. I know the program was designed with love. Members of our worship team shared their gifts of song, music, and AV skills to make the service something we’ll never forget. Many people shared you made them feel welcomed and loved.

Our Community Group (Family) along with so many of you put together an amazing reception with an incredible spread of food and beautiful decorations including many personal touches as reminders of Dave. I was in awe of the fellowship I experienced with those who were blessed by Dave’s kind, gentle and giving ways.

I believe our Lord had been preparing me for months. But as I look back, I know He had been preparing me since the day we walked through the doors of this church. I told Dave, “The Lord has given us a home here”.

My favorite person and best friend left that day, my life will never be the same. But I know we will be reunited when it’s my turn to go home.

We will forever be grateful to you, our Living Hope family. We thank God for each of you. For sharing in our grief, helping us carry our burdens and for showing us the love of Jesus.

Living Hope… You have outdone yourselves! Thank you for being the Church!!
