The Weekly Epistle 8/3/22

We gather to go!  It is vital that we gather regularly for edification, equipping, and exaltation of Christ through our worship.  But it doesn’t end at our gathering.  We gather in order to go and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, locally and globally.  The local outreach team is very active, and you will hear more about the events planned in the days ahead.  Please consider how you can be involved in reaching our community for Christ.

On a global level, we support many missionaries and organizations.  Our partnership with these missionaries requires not only financial support but prayer and moral support as they serve to reach beyond our sphere of influence locally.   This Sunday, Larry and Lula Filbert will be with us in worship and will share briefly at the close of each service.

The Filberts have faithfully served with Pioneers Mission Agency whose focus is on training and coaching others to serve in North, Central, and South America.  Recently, Larry has been working with believers of another nationality who are ministering to their own people in Canada and the USA.  Larry has been coming alongside of these believers to coach them in a multiplying disciple’s approach.

Larry and Lula have several speaking engagements with supporting churches over the summer months.  Pray for safe travels and no Covid interruptions and to have positive interactions with many supporters.

We will hear more from them this Sunday.  If you would like to join with the Global Outreach Team for a light lunch with the Filberts this Sunday, please contact the church office.

Remember that this Sunday is the budget review meeting between services downstairs in the church.  This is a great opportunity for you to get a snapshot of our direction as a church in the coming fiscal year.  This proposed budget will be voted on at our next business meeting on Tuesday, August 30.  We will also be voting on our change in affiliation to Evangelical Free Church of America.  Don’t forget the Q & A time on August 14 between services around our together initiative as we close in on that vote to join EFCA.

So many of you commented after last year’s picnic of the wonderful time together as a church family.  You don’t want to miss this year’s picnic and baptism on Saturday, August 27 from 11:00-4:00.  Hamburgers, hotdogs, rolls and condiments will be provided.  Please sign up at the ministry counter so that we know the number of people attending and the side dish or dessert you will be sharing with others.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday if not sooner!  Blessings, Pastor Brian

OWLS

As the OWLS look to another year of fun, fellowship and exploration,
we’d like to invite anyone aged 55-100 to join us in a round of
conversation, hosted by Patsy Tacker on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 1:00
p.m.  We want to hear your ideas for activities that interest you to
guide our thoughts in developing a schedule of events for the coming
months.  If you plan to attend, please bring a small item that is a clue
to things you enjoy – examples of hobbies, photographs, etc.  To help in
planning refreshments (there will always be food!), we would greatly
appreciate your reply to this email no later than Friday, August 19th.

Looking Ahead

Church picnic and Baptism is August 27 from 11:00-4:00 at Ellacoya State Park.

Together Initiative Q&A
